Lee Roy Martin was a notorious serial killer who terrorized the small town of Martinsville, Indiana in the 1970s. He was responsible for the brutal murders of at least 26 people, mostly women and children, between 1973 and 1977.
Martin was known for his vicious and sadistic nature, often torturing his victims before killing them. He would often strangle or beat his victims to death, and in some cases, he would even mutilate their bodies after they were dead.
The police had a difficult time tracking down Martin, as he was a transient and often moved from town to town. However, he was eventually caught in 1977 after a shootout with police in Alabama.
Martin was eventually convicted of multiple counts of murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He died in prison in 1999.
